A very serious error in all versions of Everything.
I have reported the problem many times.
Changing any settings, eg Enable service, freezes the application and computer, using the 100% processor, so my system is frozen for many long minutes. This may be due to the large amount of data and the overload of many physical disks. When will the solution be solved?
This problem does not occur in other tools of this type.

Easy reproduction of the problem.
40M files (small size 1KB) and try to enable setting such as Everything Service-> Apply

I am currently indexing about 8M files, and using 625Mb doing it.

If you are indexing 40M files, then you are looking at roughly 3Gb and change.
If you are running the 32-bit (x86) version, you will run into memory issues.

To do that many files, you need to run the 64-bit (x64) version, and have at least 8Gb of ram, and that is a minimum.
The freeze up is likely virtual memory swap out if you have less than 8Gb.

You can try reducing the number of files by excluding drive letters, or directory trees to see if that helps.

Good luck.

Janus.
