Option to... not immediately query on new tab?

I frequently open a new tab, and Everything (1.5a) starts populating, well, everything, and I have to wait for that. If I try and do anything, it then asks if I want to stop the query. I'm wondering if there's a way to have new tabs just do/display/search for nothing when opening, until I put something in the search bar?

Please try enabling hide empty search results:
- In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Results tab on the left.
- Check Hide results when the search is empty.
- Click OK.
This will work best if you set your home search to an empty string:
- In Everything 1.5, from the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the Home tab on the left.
- Change Search to: Custom
- Make sure the text box to the right of Custom is empty.
- Click OK.
The initial empty search should be instant.
Enabling Index -> "Enable Result Omissions" can making an empty search slower.
