Finding a large file on c or d drive made today

Post by whereditgo »

There is a temp file somewhere that I can't find. It's got to be at least 1gb. It won't have normal file extension although it's actually a video. I can't seem to figure out how to do the search for this using everything on most like my C drive (system) or maybe my D drive storage. I've tried in advanced search for over 1gb file made today but am coming up with 0 results. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

Please make sure no search options are checked under the Search menu (eg: uncheck match case, uncheck match whole words, uncheck regex)

Please make sure the Everything filter is active under the Search menu.

Please make sure these files are not excluded from Tools -> Options -> Exclude.

Please try the following search:

size:>1gb dm:today

dm = date modified

-If that doesn't find the desired results, please try the following search:

size:>1gb dc:today

dc = date created
(this search will take a little longer unless you index Date Created under Tools -> Options -> Indexes)

If you are still not finding the file, please try the following:

Please make sure Everything is installed correctly and running as a standard user:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the General tab on the left.
  • Check Store settings and data in %APPDATA%\Everything.
  • Uncheck Run as administrator.
  • Check Everything Service. (Please make sure this is tick-checked and not square-checked)
  • Click OK.
  • Exit Everything (right click the Everything tray icon and click Exit).
  • Restart Everything.
Please try forcing a rebuild:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Indexes tab on the left.
  • Click Force Rebuild.
  • Click OK.
