es.exe & -path

Post by therube »

es.exe & -path
1.1.0.26

Did that (-path) change?

As in I have always used something like: [SS.BAT]
@es.ex2 -pause -sort name -highlight -path . %1 %2 %3 -instance 15

but now it's not returning results?
(What I'm wanting is to search the (CWD & below).)

(It appears it's actually the %1... ?
Or not.)

Even %CD% doesn't work (-path %CD%)?
I think it's me... ?
It is!!!

My Service, hence, my service, seems to have disappeared?
Huh?

(And if that's the case, then it's probably a good time to update ;-).)

I did run (specifically, but now not sure how ?) an "admin" instance.
And when I quit that... maybe that took out the Service too?

So in that instance, which I started normal (i.e., not "as Admin"),
I went in & specifically checked; General | Run as administrator,
at which point I got a UAC prompt... & all was well.

And then I... ? Well, I Quit at some point.
And then I notice that my es.exe wasn't right...

Has to be something in there (that caused the issue).
But at this point, not sure just what happened to cause the Service to Quit (somewhere along the line)?

Oh.
Cause es.exe piggy-backs on the GUI, & as the GUI was open, es.exe was "working".

But...

As the Service no longer was, the GUI was also no longer receiving updates.

And my es.exe searches, as it was, were specifically looking for newly created files,
that I created within, ., so es.exe was correctly returning, nothing (by virtue of the
of the fact that the GUI stopped seeing updates, by virtue of the fact that the
Service was not). Oh.

FWIW:

The GUI of Everything 1.5 will automatically try to restart the service if it is not running.
(it will check every minute or so)
