Some explanation needed while searching for PDF content

Post by Michi »

Hi!

Running ET 1.50.1319a (x64), I just tried to search for a word, using the search string "content: nachhaltigkeit".
The index is set up to scan the content of PDFs and more, regardless of its size, see below.

The word "nachhaltigkeit" should be found inside a PDF document, but wasn't. ET finds the file but not because of the matching content, but in the filename and marks the position like: "2022-09-17 Informationen_zur_Nachhaltigkeit.PDF"

So, first question is, why does it search the filename?

Second question is, why did ET not find the word inside this PDF?
I just checked the PDF's content in a PDF viewer and manually searched the word above. There were many hits.
I've re-checked this behaviour and used a different search word from the content of this PDF and yet ET still does not find the PDF and did not find the word in the filename, which is expected behaviour.

My index content settings are:

Code: Select all

Index File Content: yes
Include only files: *.doc;*.docx;*.pdf;*.txt;*.xls;*.xlsx
Maximum size: 0 MB
So basically ET should have indexed this PDF in question, right? Did I miss the obvious?

No!

Just found my mistake: I've inserted a space between "content:" and the search word, e.g. "content:_Nachhaltigkeit".
Using "content:Nachhaltigkeit" works as expected.

Silly me, I recently stumbled across this bit and it just hit me again!
