Indexing External Hard Drives?

Post by Flourgrader »

Hi all,
I am running: Windows 10:
Everything Version 1.5.0.1269a (x64)
I have 4 external USB3 Hard Drives.
Volume D: is all Video
Volume E: is all Music
Volume F: is all Documents
Volume G: is all Pictures.
If I was to index all 4 drives then switch my PC off at the end of the day
and then the following day when I re-boot the PC and switch on the external hard drives if they are assigned a different Volume Label would Everything NOT be able to locate the correct data?
Example after re-booting PC:
Volume H: is all Video
Volume J: is all Music
Volume K: is all Documents
Volume M: is all Pictures.

Regardless of other ways to index them in Everything I would use the free tool USBDLM.
You can configure it so that every external volume always gets a specific drive letter
regardless of when they are connected.

Thank You, horst.epp
I will go and download that, and give it a try.
Cheers!
