searching inside of documents

Post by LindseySch »

Is there anyway to have "everything" search inside documents and not just the name of the file?

Hi,

Yes, an indexed search for content is possible in Everything 1.5a: Content Indexing.

If you are interested - I have compiled some detailed information here - without claiming to be complete -.
(If Total Commander is not used, notes about this file manager can be ignored).
  1. "Search queries using 'Everything'"
    • 10. Searching file contents (content:) -> indexed file contents possible from Everything 1.5!
            Here, for example, there are also topic-relevant link collections
    • 14. Windows Search (si:) in 'Everything' -> from 'Everything' 1.5.0.1258a
    • 13. SETTINGS: For 'Everything' ... -> from 'Everything' Version 1.5 ... => Point 2. 'Everything' <=
  2. Content Searching (older discussion)
  3. Content & Properties - My Settings - Example
  4. Always search unindexed content
  5. content is stored in memory
    I recommend that you check the RAM consumption in the task manager from time to time.
