Google Chrome- Highlight & Search

Post by Redshift »

Hi

I typically open an Everything with a Chrome tab on my 2nd computer and highlight my search term on a web page, right click and copy and then go back to the everything tab Paste and Enter to search the 1st computer.

Ideally I'd like to shorten the process with Highlighting the search Term, then a right Click and select Search with Everything. Is that possible somehow?
If so, how and can one also avoid opening another tab each time you search?''

Trying to minimize the steps here

I've looked around but am not seeing something along that line.

Thank You

Dear @void:

You have the hidden option /hotkey_explorer_path_search=1 to enable automatically populating the Everything search with the current location of the active Windows Explorer window when opening an Everything window (ie, via New/Show/Toggle Window hotkey).

Could you also add an option /hotkey_clipboard_contents_search=1 to automatically populate the Everything search with the current contents of the Windows Clipboard if the clipboard contents is text and newer than 5 seconds old (and reasonably small). /hotkey_explorer_path_search=1 takes precedence to /hotkey_clipboard_contents_search=1.

A #clipboard: search is in development.

I will consider a right click -> Search in Everything... chrome extension.

I will consider a /hotkey_clipboard_contents_search option.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Search Everything from HIGHLIGHTED word in browser

(Been a long time since I've seen Chrome, but I'd guess it should work.)
