That is unexpected.. (to me at least). What version of Everything do you use?

If you File > Exit Everything, does that dialog stay around or does it go away?

Can you identify the process that is creating that dialog box, using Microsoft Sysinternal's program ProcessExplorer?

Everything doesn't have a "Test" dialog.

I haven't been able to produce the issue on Windows 11 22471.1000 with Everything 1.4.0.1009 x64.

The test dialog might be generated from the nb associated iFilter.

What program are you using to opens nb files?
Does the issue only occur for nb files?

Thank you for the reply.

Indeed, the problem only happens with *.nb files, which are opened by Mathematica, which does have an iFilter.

I suspect the solution to be able to look for content inside Mathematica files would be to deinstall the Mathematica iFilter?

I can already confirm that if I disable, in the Windows "Indexing Options" as shown below, the option to Index file content for Mathematica files, then the problem disappears and I can now search for content using Everything. Thank you for the quick response that allowed me fix this strange issue.
