Last search

Post by bonten »

First of all I'd like to say that this is a truely excellent program!
It would ne nice to have the contents of the last search saved so that when i reopen the window it would display the same contents where i exited it.

Please try:

To enable remember the last search:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the View tab.
  • Check Remember last search in the Advanced settings.
  • Click OK.

David,

This works great except that I have to click it a second time to bring the window up. The first click brings up the search box with the last search in it but not the window. It happens the some whether the tray icon is set to single or double click. I still have to click another time to bring the window up.

Also, could you make it so when you type in a letter and it brings up the drop down for a prior search, that I will be able to mouse click it instead of only being able to hit the enter key?

Do you mean "Everything" is showing minimized?

Add the following line to the end of your Everything.ini file:

Code: Select all

auto_search_history_dropdown=1

I mean the only thing that shows up when I first click the tray icon is the last search line. Nothing else shows up unless I click either the tray icon or anywhere on the desktop.

I already added that line.

Thanks David works like a charm now.
However now when i wanna exit the window via the ESC key this doesn't work anymore, i checked the ini and close_window_on_esc=1 so this should work, but doesn't.

I have removed this setting and replaced it with a new keyboard function.

Rebind Escape to ResultList.CancelActionOrClose.

To rebind Escape to ResultList.CancelActionOrClose:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menus, click Options.
  • Click the Keyboard tab.
  • Type in CancelActionOrClose into the Show commands containing search box.
  • Select ResultList.CancelActionOrClose.
  • Press Escape in the Press new shortcut box.
  • Click Assign.
  • Click OK.
