Asking for a confirmation about directories, opposed to files, in search results

Post by Oliverh »

Hello!

I'm coming to ask for a confirmation, please, to avoid screwing up, basically.

My context: I'm dealing with a bountiful search harvest, 76452 results. I plan to delete all of them. The only exception: there might be directories in the search results, and if so, I want to to manually check them and decide, one by one, whether to delete them or not.

Here's the part I'm not sure of, for which I would need a confirmation: if I click once, or then a second time, on the "Type" column, am I right to be certain this WILL, without fail, bring first (or last, hence the second clicking) the directories that are among the search results?

In my 76452 results search, so far no directory shows up if I do that, clicking on Type, clicking it again. I'm assuming that just means there are no directories in the search results, plain and simple... but, well, I don't want to make a mistake here.

Sorry for the weird question, and thanks a lot if you can give me a confirmation, I'll be grateful!

(Edit: I tried doing my homework, saw D for directory in "Attribute Constants:" in https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/searching/ ... but I didn't find what to do of it.
Also, minor feedback to the admin, the link to this page, https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/searching/, isn't activated in the FAQ, https://www.voidtools.com/faq/ , in the part where it says "Advanced searching See Searching Everything for more information.")

Adding

Code: Select all

file:
to your query will filter-out all folder and lists only files.

I assume, thats what you are expecting.

(Edit: also !attrib:D will give you the same result)
