CPU usage on startup

Post by ccb2019 »

Everything v 1.4.1.895 x64 on Win 10 Pro x64

When Everything starts up (either with system startup or after), the CPU quickly runs to >90% for Everything.
Is there a way to control Everything's resource usage on startup?
It renders the computer less than functional for several minutes....

Sorry to hear Everything is using CPU usage on startup.

What is shown in the Everything status bar?

Everything might be doing a reindex, could you please try disabling auto include fixed volumes and auto remove offline volumes:
  • In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the NTFS tab on the left.
  • Uncheck Automatically include fixed NTFS volumes.
  • Uncheck Automatically include removable NTFS volumes.
  • Uncheck Automatically remove offline NTFS volumes.
  • Click OK.
Everything should only use ~100% CPU when it is doing a sort or complex search.
Have you changed your home search or sort under Tools -> Options -> Home?
