Just Installed - no searches

Post by tjbinno »

I've just installed, tried a search and nothing.

I've checked the options, set a data base location for my single drive (C:). I've disabled FTTP and HTTP since (I think) I don't need these set and don't have any remote systems.

I've stopped and started it twice, thinking that might start a scan.

So what should I do?

Please make sure you have at least one NTFS volume.

Please make sure you are running "Everything" with administrative privileges.

Does "Everything" find any NTFS volumes?

To check if "Everything" finds any NTFS volumes:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options
  • Click the Volumes tab.
  • Are any volumes available in the local NTFS volumes list?
Any errors that occur when indexing should appear in the status bar.
Additional error information is reported in the Errorlog.txt file in your "Everything" installation folder.

If you encounter any errors indexing a volume, "Everything" automatically excludes this volume from future indexes.
You will need to re-enable indexing for this volume.

To enable all volumes for indexing:
  • In "Everything", from the Tools menu, click Options.
  • Click the Volumes tab.
  • For each volume in the Local NTFS volumes list:
  • Make sure Check media is enabled.
  • Make sure Enable USN Journal is enabled.
  • Make sure Include in database is enabled.
  • Make sure Monitor changes is enabled.
  • Repeat for each volume.
  • Click OK.

hi,
same problem here.
it IS running with admin priviledges, all my volumes are NTFS (in options it sees C:, D: and E:)
i have tried to disable firewall and antivirus, etc.
nothing seems to work: the search list stays empty.

is there a particular service that needs to be running for everything to work?
thanks
