Keep column headers displaying when using thumnail view

Post by Sushiman »

Hello.
Until current version, column headers disappear when using thumnail view
but I would need them to change sort order by "column-mouse-click"

Thank you for reading

For now, you can right-click on an empty space in the result list and choose "Sort by", as can be seen on the screenshot (or use those keyboard shortcuts)

Thank you for your information and kindness.
Yes. I can change sort by right-click menu or keyboad shortcuts.

But that's not what I mean.
My point is software operational consistency.
I allways change sort by column-header-mouse-click in default view (details).
Name sort, Size sort, and so on, I change sort several times to find the file I want.
So my right hand have memorized "when sorting, do column-header-click!"
Then I search image files, I change view to thumails, and columns will suddenly disappear.
This is not same as allways.
I know how to sort by menu or shortcuts, but they are not a smooth operationally flow in my case.

So I still want to keep column headers displaying when using thumnail view.

Thank you for reading this my poor english

That's why I said "For now" .... :)

I agree, once something is in your "muscle memory", it's hard to get rid of it.
A (very) long time ago I knew how to solve a Rubik's cube. Recently I got one in my hands and the muscle mmory still knew how to solve it (whereas my brain had no idea). I was really surprised by that.

BTW: How do you sort thumbnails in Windows' File Explorer? AFAIK it has no column headers in thumbnail view.

BTW2: Nothing wrong with your English (as far as I can judge that, as English is not my native language either)

Now I use a folder tweak application named "Folder Options X" for it.
It can be able to keep displaying column headers in all view types.

Basically, I don't understand why Windows Explorer has no column headers in thumbnail view.
Because column headers are not only for "name label" but also for "sorting function button".
My suggestion for Everything search about column headers in thumbnail view based on this thought.

I also have sort headers in all views.
It looks like, I got this option by Classic Shell:
Classic Explorer > File Pane >
[v] Show sort headers in all views

Yes, "Classic Shell" has the same opition.
Sorting by sort-header-click in thumbnail view is very useful to serch images.
I hope Everything serch will have the same setting in future version
