.lnk

What is the purpose of the small files with the ".lnk" extension?

I have more than 5700 of them, some dating back almost two years.

Do I need them? Would it hurt anything or slow down "everything.exe" to delete them?

I did a cursory search of the links for help, (not every link), but didn't seen anything that looked like this question.

Thanks for whatever info you can provide,

Bob

.lnk files are shortcut files. They make up the startmenu and the icons on your desktop, among othr things

Right-click a .lnk and choose Properties to find out where this shortcut is pointing to.
