I feel a future in Everything where the Name search can be toggled off, and a selection of different columns can be turned on as the default search. Name, Path, Album, Artist, Director, Producer, Content, etc. Maybe "Search all visible columns" or "Search all indexed properties."...

"Full Path", full-path:, is just another column under Add Columns that you can search from within.

You don't have to use it, but there's no reason to prohibit using it.

You don't have to delete anything, just keep a backup copy of your inis and other settings. If you think a single default instance clean install will reveal whether the crashes are coming from a user setting, startup config, instance or task scheduler setting... then it's worth while going down that...

I asked this before but I didn't really understand last time. Is there any functional difference to attaching parameters/groups/modifiers to the folders: verb, versus having them separated? I still see folders: (and files:) as a filter, and not a function. I'd argue that it be described as a filter.

Try turning off Search -> Match Diacritics for this search query.

I suspect this is a bug.

(@void: I'm also having trouble getting the diacritics: and !diacritics: and no-diacritics: verb to work in 1.5)

I think what the OP was asking for, by analogy, is "How can I search all my movies folders for those that have .\Extras\Subs\ or .\Samples\pics\ or any other set of folders that goes 2-deep or more." I assume he's trying to find and flatten them.

Parent-Name is already the name of the singular parent object, and Parent-Path is the path to the parent object (minus the parent-name).

Maintaining a database localized in RAM is far faster and resource friendlier than constantly scratching your disk's MFT for raw reads with every keystroke.

I am unaware of any alternatives to Everything that does as you specified.

Note that negative inclusion (the Exclusion tab) is going to be the slower option, because you are indexing all your drives and then deleting all the entries from that index except for a few files. You can certainly add Files and Folders to your list of Filters, and then make sure you have View -> Filter bar enabled. Just select either from the droplist.

Sorry. The $date-modified: variable is a Windows FILETIME expressed in the number of 100 nanosecond intervals since 01-Jan-1601 .
