Thanks for your reply.
I created the shortcut Everything.exe -connect username:password@host:port and it works as expected.
It will solve my problem next time people are present.
Thanks also for the other suggestions, bur I'll wait until 1.5 is out of alpha before installing on those 2 machines.

ETP Client Security
My first question is about security for the ETP client. In my home network I have a desktop, and a laptop that I often use from the terrace, or from bed. I use Everything to access and sync files on the other computer. Both machines have the ETP server activated, with a username and password. So whe...

New search window - always empty search string?
I have been using 1.2.371 happily for a long time, and am now trying 1.4.1.809b (on Win7 Pro SP1). The sorting is much faster, thanks. With the old version, if I have a search window with a search string set (for example E:\images\Ships\), when I start a new search window (^N or File/New search wind...

Is there a version other than 1.2.1.451a which can handle more than one screenful of data when connected to ETP server?

Suggestion for HTTP server usability
When a search via the HTTP server finds more than one screenful of data, it is possible to switch to other pages at the bottom of the screen only. It would be more practical if the the page selection was available also at the top of the page. For example on the same line as "results 1-32 of xxx...

Re: Searching etp server problem
I have a problem too with searching another computer via ETP. If my search finds more than one screenfull of data, then the 1st screen displays all right, but if I try to scroll down the display becomes garbled. The problem does not occur with HTTP between the same machines. But of course on http th...

Maybe I'm dense today, but I can't find any link to a newer alpha than 451 on this thread. Do you have a direct link, please?

Bug with Excel files in Version 1.2.1.451a
With Version 1.2.1.451a, if I find excel files in the main window and double-click on one of them: - if excel was not open, then it loads and opens the file as expected. - if excel was open with already some file open, then the focus switches to excel, but the double-clicked file does not open. This...

New search "pre-scrolled"
An oddity in the search interface: if you enter a search which produces more than one window of results, and scroll down the list, then if you enter a new search which also produces more than one window of results then Everything 1.2.1.371 starts the display of the new results "pre-scrolled&quo...

For the original question:
the simplest entry to ensure that only files with short name will be found
is to enter \a.bcd
works for me.
