Begging your pardon ... I had thought the text given at the end of the entry for "path_narrow" was the command for that entry. I now see it is a link to a related setting. Same goes for the other entry. My apologies for the false alert.

Focus on result item which was selected last time

When I repeat a former search and (if I recall correctly) press TAB to go to the results list, then Everything would focus on the result item which was selected last time.

This no longer happens. I wonder if I have changed a setting inadvertently. Is there a way to restore this?

Format of "path" in results

I notice the "path" specified in the results list is in a different format than usual. The last folder is listed first, followed by the rest of the path in brackets.

Where can I find information about what options are available for this?


(I am on Everything version 1.5.0.1356a.)

I downloaded Everything 1.5.0.1356a and made the change to "ignore_punctuation_type".

However when I search using:
april-2023
it does not find files with the following in their name (which I want to find):
april 2023
.
How do I do this?

I suspect that's the cause.

I removed the drive and rebuilt the index, along with a few reboots. All was well again and the "Online:Yes" entry is now correct.

Both volumes are NTFS.

Both have monitoring enabled in Everything's options.

(By the way, surely "Online:Yes" means Everything is indeed seeing the volume as online?)

Statistics show:
one volume is "Online:Yes"
the other is simply "Online"

I reset the defaults for "Fonts and Colors". Now the violet color I saw for results goes to black. It is black for results from both online and offline volumes.

Closing and opening doesn't help.

It may or may not be a clue to what's happening but ... when I zoom the view from 100% to 110% then I can see a few extra entries in the Filter dropdown.

When I check for updates by using Everything > Help > Check for Updates,

I get a message saying "Unable to check for updates: failed to send version request".

This happens on v1.4 and v1.5.

What could be causing this? I am on WinXP.

I have encountered a strange situation. I have a folder called "replacement boiler" (without quotation marks).

Everything 1.5 can find that folder when I search for "\ replacement" but not when I search for "\\ replacement".

Is this supposed to happen?
