New version of RUN for EverythingSearch with Favorites
For those of you who occasionally need to use the command line or who need to run program specifying command line options, there is a common annoyance that in many cases, the program is not on the system path so we need to open a command box, locate the program, change directory to where it is (or a...

'run' - An Everything Search runner utility
I had an itch that needed scratching - running a program on Windows without messing with the path. I created a little program to do just that using the Everything Search SDK. The code is on GitHub for everyone to grab at: https://github.com/DrorHarari/run From the readme file: Usage ----- run [optio...

Doc error: Everything_Query()
In the documentation for Everything_Query() at http://support.voidtools.com/everything ... hing_Query it says that this is a void function while according to the header it is boolean.

www.voidtools.com blocked by OpenDNS
Hi David, Trying to access you home page from work (which uses OpenDNS) gives me this: http://malware.opendns.com/main?url=www.voidtools.com&nref=&w=1280&h=595&ifc=0 OpenDNS has blocked www.voidtools.com due to a security threat that was discovered by the Umbrella Labs. If you think ...

Re: So development stalled...
I am using 1.21.452 (based on Help->About) and it has been pretty solid for me. I could get the UI to crash when deleting many selected files in some cases but recovering was as easy as re-running it. The problem you describe is a classic example of a program invoking system code (a driver) and not ...

The (very) sorry state of Everything Search competition
Today I saw on BetaNews ( http://fileforum.betanews.com ) a program called NTFSearch that is supposedly a competition to Everything Search. I was wondering what can anyone do to improve on the wonderful ES program that would justify $5 -- the answer is nothing, and my (harsh) review explains why: ht...

Re: Excessive page faults
I have seen these lock-ups that coincide with heightened disk activity (some sort of vicious circle). I have about 500,000 files and with 2Gb of memory, I'd be glad to 'commit' ES's 30Mb permanently (locking it) to get it work without paging.

Excessive page faults
I am using Search Everything 1.2.1.371 and the memory utilization is normal (25Mb real / 30 virtual) but I notice that there is an excessive Page Faults activity. Using the regular Task Manager with the Page Faults and Page Faults Delta columns enabled I see the Page Fault Delta hovering constantly ...

Re: EverythingSearch and rootkits
@maniaxx: Have you considered that it just chooses not to show $MFT -- this program uses $MFT to do its magic so it is likely that it is not showing it -- there is nothing useful you can directly do with it. My point is that the rootkit habbit of using files and masking them out at the Windows API l...

EverythingSearch and rootkits
Hi David, Everything Search is a great program, something that puts Microsoft to shame for not coming up with this themselves and causing its users to waste millions of hours waiting for the retarded Folder Search to find a file. I have donated to this program and encourage others to try and do the ...
