Set File Time - ideas for improvement
Hi Void, this is about menue item Edit - Advanced - Set file time... I use it with hotkey Alt-T (for Timestamp) assigned to. Having tested the functionality of the feature with Version 1.5.0.1372a, I take the opportunity for a feedback: Setting the three time stamps in relation to each other does'nt...

Re: Permanently exclude subfolders from search results
Setting the macro is important too. Thank you, this solved my problem. I thought, if I do not want to type a keyword, I could skip the macro definition, but this was wrong. For others who read this, I summarize the filter definition that proved to work: Example for a filter definition in v1.4 synta...

Re: Permanently exclude subfolders from search results
Thank you for so many suggestions, I will try all, but start with this: Please try adding the following filter from Search -> Add to filters: Name: Parent Search: parent:search: I tried the filter before, just without the search: part. Now, search: should be replaced by the search term, this was my ...

Permanently exclude subfolders from search results
Hi, I am looking for a comfortable way to change the serach path but keep subfolders excluded. Use case: When I open a new Everything window starting from Windows Explorer using open-with or the Pause-Key When moving files to various subfolders (cleaning up my photo collection by sorting pictures in...

Re: Exclude offline drive from searching while keeping in database
This is a great guidance, thank you! This is how I proceeded, following your advise (for anyone who should search for it): I first made a backup of Everything-1.5a.db which was located in C:\Users\Me\AppData\Local\Everything, in my installation. It it proved to be wise also to have a backup of Every...

Exclude offline drive from searching while keeping in database
Hi, I have indexed my old computer's NTFS drive for occasional reference. It is listed under Options / Indexes / NTFS / Local NTFS volumes. My question is, how to exclude this drive "globally" from search results without loosing the data. Ideally it would not take RAM space and could be ma...

Re: Is there a way to navigate folders/files similar to a filesystem explorer?
I just created a parallel thread, before I found this here: https://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=59372#p59372 Here is my view of the solution as of today: - To navigate downwards: Drag and drop a folder from the result list to the search bar to change to this directory. - To navigate upwa...

Re: Change directories like in a file explorer
The folder tree of v1.5 is not in sync with the search term. The folder tree ist designed as a filter component but not for navigation. By the way I just found the topic was raised already in 2021: https://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=10910 The solution from the earlier thread is good to ...

Change directories like in a file explorer
I like to use Everything like a file explorer, browsing deeper into the folder tree using the explorer shell context menue item 'Search Everything' but within Everything. So the search string would be e.g. "D:\level1\level2\" including the quotation marks. That way I can change directories...

Set Run Count ... as Windows Explorer Shell extension
Set Run Count ... from the context menu within search results is a very convenient way to teach Everything what I want to priorize. I miss the same functionality in Windows Explorer, and I would use it quite a lot more often than from within Everything. This could be achieved by another context menu...

double_click_path for Run History
double_click_path setting should also apply to the Run History.
In the search results I find it quite handy to have directly 2 choices: to open the file or to open the path.
Run history results should provide similar comfort (besides the button and the context menu).
Just a suggestion, not important,

Re: Rename - Randomize Function
Phantastic, thank you for the help :D This is a good solution, while kind of bulky. You tried to tell me that with the [md5:$name:] example ;) So I tested include, please look at my screenshot What went wrong with include? It is included but not expanded. I have no line breaks (though I would like t...

Re: Rename - Randomize Function
I vote for a pseudo-random alpha-numeric string generating function, to be used with Advanced Renamer. My usage: insert pseudo-unique (but short) tokens into picture file names, which can then be referenced easily from anywhere, e.g. on a web site. Regarding your proposal to use hashes: I could calc...

Hi, I came accross Everything a week ago and already spent some nights exploring the features. What a powerful tool, which leaves very little to be desired!
