Re: files / folder deleted a year ago, but still shown on search

Chkdisk had actually resolved the problem, and it was only a fluke that I saw what had happened. I didn't realise that once the broken link was restored in the MFT after running chkdsk, the deleted folder and files would re-appear on my drive, as if they hadn't been deleted in the first place. There...

Re: files / folder deleted a year ago, but still shown on search

I use a single hard drive for my system, split into three partitions as the image above shows. Scan disk showed the C drive had no errors. I cannot perform a check on the recovery partition labelled as * ( presumably because it's not labelled ). Having had no active participation in the creation of ...

Re: files / folder deleted a year ago, but still shown on search

I carried out a force rebuild on the file options currently selected ( left hand side of Indexes tab ), then ticked all nine ( "multi-user database filename" etc. ) and carried out another rebuild. Files / folder still listed. Should I try deleting everything.db ? I think I raised this iss...

files / folder deleted a year ago, but still shown on search

A year ago I deleted a folder containing 24 files, but their names still show up on a search. I've obviously created and deleted numerous files and folders since and they don't get listed, so why is the anomaly happening with just this one folder and its contents ? I'm using the portable version of ...

Re: Restoring a deleted drive in the "local NTFS volumes" list

You were correct, other drives were FAT32 so didn't show on the NTFS list ( added as folders and they do now ). BUT !! :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D 014.png Ran sfc /scannow and it picked up errors such as "Warning: Overlap: Directory \??\C:\WINDOWS\System32\drivers\en-US\ is owned twice ...

Re: Restoring a deleted drive in the "local NTFS volumes" list

A red flag ( according to the partition program I'm using ) just means it's an active partition. The system volume ( drive C: ) needs to be an active partition, and one disk can only have one partition marked as active. I've copied the un-named partition to a flash drive, and can see it's a recovery...

Re: Restoring a deleted drive in the "local NTFS volumes" list

1, 3 and 4 have not resulted in the C drive being picked up, but option 2 has shown where the issue lies. Executing the command line you gave produced "no instances available". But the ini file reveals the issue. I can list the whole contents if you really want it, but one line stands out ...

Restoring a deleted drive in the "local NTFS volumes" list

I accidentally removed the C drive in the local NTFS volumes list ( Tools/Options ) and cannot restore it. - Whilst there is a button to remove a drive, there isn't one to add a drive. - "AutomaticaIly include new fixed volumes" is ticked, but it doesn't pick up the C drive when I run the ...
