Re: /reindex x: should also accept a deeper path

Found a possible related bug. While a /rescan was taking place, I attempted to modify the scan settings of a (different) network drive. I was not initiating any other scans - I only enabled 'Rescan on full buffer' for one of the other network drives. Upon hitting 'Apply', both the search window and ...

Awesome! Confirmed working here. Very useful to have this feedback for rescan operations!

Unsure if you're worried about this or not, but I noticed this didn't make it into the change notes. Just FYI :P

But please use those definitions in Everything as expected. Please change: Menu| Search -> Match Path to Menu| Search -> Match FullPath Menu| Search -> Match Full Path `Match Full Path` does make more sense there, at least for UI consistency. and please change the function path: to search only the ...

Just making sure this one made it onto your todo list :). Without any feedback, it's hard to tell when a partial /rescan has completed.

Re: Location, really?

Give it a month, and you'll get used to it. In order for this discussion to be fair, it is very important to understand, what caused PATH to be replaced. An example: Why path: is not replaced by fullpath: "Bring Me Solutions” If using 'location' in the context menu, to be consistent with the W...

I respectfully submit another vote for going back to "Open Path". Also recommend the entry below it be labeled as "Copy Full Path to Clipboard" so that it is a bit more different/distinguishable than the entry just above it. If you want to change "Location" back to Path...

Re: /reindex x: should also accept a deeper path

Found a related bug. Path contains x:\abc123 and x:\abc456 User enters "/rescan x:\abc*" and presses enter. Folders are not rescanned, and search index now contains an entry for empty folder "x:\abc*". It appears that instead of attempting to rescan folders matching x:\abc*, a ro...

Re: /reindex x: should also accept a deeper path

'index x:/abc not found'. Change x:\abc to the exact path of the index. The next alpha update will support wildcards. Ah-ha! I believe we have been talking past each other. The index name is 'x:'. Suggestion is to be able to reindex *a portion* of that index ('x:/abc', not the entire 'x:'). In this...

*Change the Search to: /reindex x:\abc Sorry, I forgot the /reindex part Understood, but to clartfy, this would be useful once the partial matching paths change has been implemented, right? Asking because currently it returns 'index x:/abc not found'. You had me thinking this was a workaround :).

/reindex x: should also accept a deeper path

For manual /reindex of large network shares, it would be useful if /reindex accepted a path deeper than the root volume. Currently attempting to enter a full path deeper than x:\ results in 'index x:\abc not found'. One such example of use is where a Linux share has local files updated by a docker i...

Re: (1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.

Thank you for the sample folder structure. I was able to produce the issue my end. Glad to help. Does this mean the SMB cache was not actually an issue? Or perhaps the SMB cache fix will still be useful for other related cases? This issue will be fixed in the next alpha update. I'll keep a lookout ...

Re: (1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.

Everything 1.5.0.1313a fixes an issue with re-adding moved folders. Retried the above example with .1313a - the issue remains as it was before (not fixed). Tried waiting several minutes for SMB caches - no effect. I've included a zip of the example folder structure for reproduction. Extract to a sh...

Re: (1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.

From what I am seeing, this appears to be an issue with SMB cache. Everything sees a new folder is created (folder in location 2) from ReadDirectoryChanges. FindFirstFile on "location 2\folder" succeeds FindFirstFile on "location 2\folder\*" fails (either 2: path not found or 12...

Re: (1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.

Fast Rescan will also work as expected now. I attempted to confirm this by allowing the index to become out of sync with the test folders and then performing a fast rescan, but I noted an odd configuration limit: 20220503-190327.png With 'Attempt to monitor changes' disabled, shouldn't 'Fast rescan...

(1.5a) mouse scroll by page results in scroll by -1 line

Windows handles mouse 'scroll by page' by setting HKCU\Control Panel\Desktop\WheelScrollLines = '-1'. 1.4 handled this properly, but 1.5a scroll by page events are causing the result list to scroll by -1 line (opposite of scroll direction).

Re: (1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.

What type of hardware is used to host the network share? It's a debian linux smbd share. Fairly standard/simple config, but to be safe, I have reproduced on an NTFS share with identical results. Watching 1.4 and 1.5a side by side, 1.5a does appear to be scanning some depth of the moved folder, but ...

(1.4/1.5a) Moved folders' contents missing from index, evade 'monitor changes', 'fast rescan', etc.

Recently did some sorting/cleanup of a large network share and found folder sizes to be misreported as smaller than expected. Digging deeper, I noted that when moving a folder within the share, Everything (both 1.4 and 1.5a) will lose track of the contents of that moved folder. I believe this is due...

Re: Auto-removing duplicate entries while remapping paths of pooled arrays

How do these mirrored pools work? Is there a primary drive that is mirrored to a secondary drive? Can you exclude the secondary drive? It varies by types of pooling software, but generally speaking, it's not easily within the user's control. For pools with mirroring options, no specific drive holds...

Auto-removing duplicate entries while remapping paths of pooled arrays

I'm using the path remapping feature in order to index a Drivepool volume (same applies to Drive Bender and other similar pooling apps). This works quite well and is missing one small tweak for it to be a perfect solution for fast indexing of pooled solutions. The issue stems from there being duplic...
