Using Everything to produce desired results
Hi, I have a particular problem, I believe it has to do with my (again) lack of knowledge of searching using logic. I have two directories with 900+ subdirectorys between them. Most of them (not all yet) I have purposely duplicated their respective name(s) and duplicated file(s) with closely matchin...

Re: Walkthru for file renaming ...
Thanks for the explanation @void. It helps clarify some mistakes that I was making using the tools. I had a multi-file, selection of files that were also mixed with .ext named files of different types - i.e. .jpg and .txt in the same folder. My intent was too rename and move these files from arbitra...

Walkthru for file renaming ...
Is there a walk thru for file renaming? I have a bunch of irregular named files, that I would like to rename them, into a much more organized format. I have before, used the "rename" command for this task, but because I do not fully understand the "language", it seems that I lack...

Re: Crashed "Out-Of-The-Blue"
This error occurs when Everything runs out of memory. 28010000 is the amount memory tried to allocate in hex. When using content:, ansicontent: or unicodecontent: Everything will load the entire file into memory to perform the search. To make this worse, ansicontent:/unicodecontent: must create ano...

Re: Crashed "Out-Of-The-Blue"
The only other thing that I can eliminate, is the fact that I'm using an older Everything.exe version ... I haven't installed the latest yet ... Ok i've eliminated that problem ... I thought I was using an older version but copy/paste from ABOUT: Version 1.4.1.895 (x86) Hmmm .... Ok ... my mistake ...

Re: Crashed "Out-Of-The-Blue"
I tested this with the same ansicontent: query and after about 15 minutes (slow system, I guess :)) I got the same error message. At that point Everything was using a very atypical 1.5 GB RAM (normally around 50MB on this system) After clicking OK, Everything.exe closed. ( Win10 1803 ; Everything 1...

Re: Crashed "Out-Of-The-Blue"
... Maybe I need to upgrade to Windows 10 64-bit? I really do not want to have to do that, because I still are using 32bit programs and games that were made for Win98-Win2000-WinXP. So for now on I will just have too NOT use that command .... Sorry to say .... You hopefully don't expect any support...

Re: Crashed "Out-Of-The-Blue"
Ok, just for the sake of argument, I rebooted my Windows machine to "Safe-Mode" and I tried the same thing AND the error reproduced itself again. So, I'm sure that it has nothing to do with the software, other than Everything not having some sort of "memory limiting" coding. I'm ...

Crashed "Out-Of-The-Blue"
Hello, I have be using Everything for about two years now. Its been one of the most useful tools created for Windows. Never had any problems with it until .... I copy and pasted from Windows Notepad to the command bar "ansicontent:" (no trailing data input). It started its usual processing...
