Re: automatically backup file-list or database after refreshing folders?
thanks for the quick reply. Thoughts about it we are using folder indexing right now why not use EFU files? They are larger, yet they work for the clients even if the ETP server thread crashes or busy (for whatever reason), whereas the flush/update to db only ensures that the database is saved. So I...

automatically backup file-list or database after refreshing folders?
Hi all, everything keeps crashing me quite often when indexing/refreshing network folders (it's running on a win 64 server 2016) - or the server forces a restart due to updates. The folders contain some 15-20 million files and it just takes a while. However. Once it gets killed, one loses all of the...

Re: Folders won't rescan as scheduled
I don't understand the question: Which Everything do you start to change the settings of the ETP server? I do not think changes in clients settings could affect the server either, as you state, that would be a mess. My questions are: I run Everything on a windows terminalserver. This instance is set...

Re: Folders won't rescan as scheduled
I use two different copies of everything in separated network folders ("server" & "client"). I don't see how the one could influence the other in any way. This also kind of dismisses hypothesis #2. For hypothesis #1 (" disable the Store data and settings in %APPDATA%\Eve...

Folders won't rescan as scheduled
Hi, I have added several smb mounted shared folders on a win server and run everything on it with an ETP server for the clients to connect to. Works like it should in most ways, but the scheduled folder rescans don't take place. I've played with the "attempt to monitor changes" but neither...

Re: path length displayed in extra column?
haha LOL.... it does help since it has the option to display the path length in a column ;-) so one can quickly assess if the current path or renaming is going to be a problem! Other decent file browsers offer this as well of course. It would just be a convenience to see the path lengths in everythi...

Re: ETP protocol query results, highlight not working
I'm also wondering why I can't see any highlighting regarding the search string when connected to an ETP server.
What does it mean "the cache is not fully loaded", claudio? Can someone provide me with a link as to how to solve this?

Re: path length displayed in extra column?
thanks guys. I'm aware of other means to do it, I just thought since it's already in everything's database it'd be the right place to do it. I'm using path:len:> 255 all the time :P but in this order one doesn't see which ones are in danger of becoming too long. I'm using XY Plorer as a file viewer ...

Re: path length displayed in extra column?
Maybe your search-skills are more developed :) sadly no, I was unable to find anything regarding this. I'll see if I'll phrase a feature request but at this point I feel a bit reluctant to add to the mere endless list because I'd rather see version 1.5 get released earlier without my additional req...

path length displayed in extra column?
since one can search for path lengths I think it should be easy to display path lengths in a column but I can't seem to find it.
Does anyone know if this is a possible viewing option at the moment?

ignore duplicates or just show one of n-duplicates?
Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to ignore duplicate files (by file name and size, or selectable either one)? Also it would be useful to just show one file for each number of dupes. advanced search feature. something like !dupe: --> doesn't show any file that exists twice or more often by name !...

too bad,
I think it'd be great to add this to the 1.5 or *future* wishlist --- having the run-count feature enabled while connected to an ETP server

Re: Run Count doesn't work while connected to ETP server?
yes, but the 'Run History.csv' doesn't even get created if I start everything with a working connection to an ETP server. Neither can I manually set run counts in such a case. Only on an instance of everything that isn't connected to an ETP server do run counts get updated as expected (and can be se...

Run Count doesn't work while connected to ETP server?
I can properly connect to an everything ETP server.
However ,the column "run count" doesn't show anything when using everything this way. Am I overlooking a setting or is there a problem with the ETP server or client?
kind regards
randfee

Re: Run History Help
run history doesn't work for me when connected to an ETP server. Is this intentional? I don't see why the ETP would only provide the results and the local "run history.csv" could be updated at the same time... or, optional, the run counter updates would be communicated to the server. regar...

Re: search on multiple server over ETP
hi void, is version 1.5 still planned or has development stopped? Sorry to ask, I suppose it might be annoying to get asked this too often but since I can't find any hint as to the version release roadmanp and first statements regarding 1.5 popped up several years ago I'm simply too curious about al...

Re: Remember ETP Settings
ok, thanks. But in this case, one can not use an ETP server while still adding other folders to be scanned as well (not rtfs), correct? That would be quite limiting since I wanted to give all clients access to the common file-pool on the server while giving them the option to also scan other folders...

Re: Preview Folder Contents and Quickly Launch Items
I would also like to see the possibility to get a preview of a folder. But instead of icons I would very much prefer a detail view. Thinking about this, it could be quickly realized using everything's own database, do a query of the selected folder's path.... Thinking further, this would be even nic...

Re: Remember ETP Settings
appending auto_connect=username:password@host:port doesn't work for me. The line is deleted immediately when everything is started. However, loading everything.exe with the extensions works, kind of. The connection works, the searches work, but the link type is not specifies and the default is not w...
