Re: Consistency for groups

Thank you for your answers. It is a bit clearer now, but still some confusion. I think those examples/"accepts" would be very helpful in the help docs... Maybe link to the according example in the chapter below or write it directly into the help list. I wouldn't mind it to be a bit more de...

Consistency for groups

Hi! Is there a reason why some groups are delimited by pipe symbol and some by semicolon? I always forget how to do it and it would be much easier to just follow the convention that the pipe symbol stands for "or". Furthermore, the help is talking about lists but never defines a list. Woul...

Search Syntax Help german translation

Hi! Just some quick suggestions / little bugs. There's a display error. Probably missing backslash for "\r" 2022-10-19 11_45_56-Such-Syntax - Everything.png Outdated? There's no mention of depth:<count> It's not searchable (Ctrl+f). So instead of using the local help, I tend to go to https...

Confusion in the search doc

https://www.voidtools.com/support/everything/searching/ For example, to find files and folders with the text reports in the filename, search for: reports To limit the results to a drive, simply search for that drive, for example, to find files and folders on your D: drive, search for: d: The second ...

Re: Sibling selector?

Hmm not much everything in your workaround :D But yes, this looks promising and should work on all Windows systems. Bookmarked it. Thanks! p.s.: I call everything sibling that is on the same directory (level). In this case there should be no sibling of .opf, but I might like e.g. .m3u files only tog...

Re: Sibling selector?

Yes, my task is done.

Nonetheless I am interested for workarounds in sibling selector.
E.g. some music albums have the cover/booklet directly in the same folder, some have a subfolder. I'd like to unify this.
A sibling selector might be helpful there, too.

Re: Sibling selector?

Thanks, unfortunately that's not the way to go for me because there are actually ~200 folders and I expect half of them to have a .opf  /edit Because the files are not so big, my workaround was like this: Search for all folders that have an .opf "D:\Users\MyName\eBooks\#epub\#archive\#toli...

Sibling selector?

Hi, I got some problems creating a search query. Structure: D:\folder\bla.epub D:\folder\bla.opf D:\folder2\new.epub D:\folder3\another.epub D:\folder4\wow.epub D:\folder4\wow.opf I want to select .epubs only that don't have a .opf on the same level. Goal is to select new.epub and another.epub to mo...

Re: Shortcut to search in current folder

Another suggestion, is to make the seacrh edit selected when opening the path in Everything window. If anything, a separate hotkey makes sense. But selecting the path that it can immediately be deleted is an unnecessary extra step. Either it's optimised for clean search or for path search. I use pa...

Re: Add function:!value to search-syntax help

yup, it does the same.
Apparently !function:value works with all functions, while function:!value works not in all cases (but works well with strings as value).

So !function:value is more robust and this thread can be closed

Sorry

Add function:!value to search-syntax help

Hi! So far, the search syntax help contains a lot of operators: Function Syntax: function:value Equal to value. function:<=value Less than or equal to value. function:<value Less than value. function:=value Equal to value. function:>value Greater than value. function:>=value Greater than or equal to...

Re: MP3 Tags

honestly... please don't bloat Everything . I can understand some people want full text search on .txt and .doc etc, but also searching through all your music tags will end up in thousands of results, no matter what you search for. I'll definitely deactivate it. Just use foobar2000 for an extremely ...

Re: Provide global hotkey for search in current folder

@mapa4 What's the problem? Install the Beta In Everything, type in the following search and press ENTER: /hotkey_explorer_path_search=1 A confirmation like "hotkey_explorer_path_search=1" (or similar, don't remember) will show up in the status bar at the bottom. Use your hotkey for new eve...

Re: Shortcut to search in current folder

Thanks mapa4.
Actually I was already enthusiastic about AHK before, but never had the time to really learn it and only used it for more basic, easy stuff. Nevertheless they seem to have a dedicated, helpful community and good documentation which lets me reconsider learning it this year!

Re: Shortcut to search in current folder

Ok guys, I am absolutely delighted how we managed to solve this with a lot of different approaches! Thanks! @mapa4 Like I said before, unfortunately your AHK script didn't work for me (Windows 8). But I got help in the AHK Forums and the result was this fully working script (can be compiled as .exe ...

Re: Shortcut to search in current folder

@mapa4 Why do you use -url instead of -path ? I changed it and it looks like -path works better and already adds the quotation marks. Actually we want to open a path and not an URL. With -path you also don't need to change the spaces to %20. p.s.: Link to my suggestion post . /edit: confused -url an...

Provide global hotkey for search in current folder

Hello! I'd suggest a solution which is as comfortable like the original Windows search. You have an explorer window open at C:\temp\blabla\ You press a hotkey defined by yourself (e.g. CTRL+SHIFT+F) Everything should open with a search filter "C:\temp\blabla\" already applied. A trailing s...

Re: Shortcut to search in current folder

@therube You are right and I can't remember what exactly I did to have trouble with special chars. It might have been just the parenthesis. I didn't know your "trick" with the %~f1% before, thank you for that, it's quite fancy :-) Your batchfiles work both and even the triggering through f...

Re: Shortcut to search in current folder

mapa4, thank you for your answer. I also already thought about AutoHotkey to be a reasonable tool to make a workaround, but unfortunately I have almost no knowlage about it's syntax and commands. I only used it for very simple tasks so far and never had to target a specific window or stuff like that...

Re: Shortcut to search current folder

Ok I made some tests and it looks like batch/cmd is not guilty of the "space-problem". But in my tests it had problems with special characters like äöü. So another source of failure... At this point the workaround gets bigger and bigger an isn't worth the time in my opinion. Conclusion: Ev...

@horst.epp Unfortunately I'm not using total commander. @frogger thanks, nice suggestion. @SuperDude It fails when there is a space in the path of the current folder. btw the path in the cmd needs apostrophes to work if there is a space in it: "C:\Program Files\Everything\Everything.exe" -...

I don't think that's a big copyright concern because of 5 lines of code... horst.epp tried to provide quick help and that's commendable. Shortcut to search in current folder

Hi! I feel a bit stupid at the moment, sorry if I just didn't see the option. Example: I am at C:\ right click on the folder temp and choose Everything Everythi...
