Re: utf8 letters in path makes in impossible to use open pat

Thanks!

I should be searching better

However, If I put fullpath to the Start menu->search bar (or start->run aka Win+R) it opens just fine.

Are you sure it's an issue with Explorer?

I think it's rather an issue with Everything not fully supporting UTF-8 ?

utf8 letters in path makes in impossible to use open path

Hi. There is some issue with 'Open Path' functionality if there is a UTF-8 letter in the path (directory name for example). How to reproduce: 1) search any file with UTF-8 letter in directory name 2) right click on that file and select 'Open Path' 3) Explorer opens 'My Documents' instead of the path...

but that would remove ALL duplicated file names, where you are looking to remove all but one (or some).
thanks, that works :)

would be nice to have an ability to filter out dupes based on some sorta checksums tho, but not a big deal.

Not necessarily.
You can just use the UNC path directly (so \\server\share).
well ye, you can do this way too.. but for me more comfortable to map a drive first..

Re: DO SOMETHING AGAINST THE SPAMBOTS!

I see someone blocked an ability to use PM.

Probably it's because of SPAM bots abusing it ..

Maybe just add a captcha for registration and require users to confirm their accounts via e-mail upon registration?

PM sometimes is helpful :)

Re: Using Everything for Mapped Network drives (shared folde

Yes, it works only in 1.3+.

You need to map network drive first (e.g. map X: to \\server\share by basic windows tools) and then go to Indexes->Folders and add path to the X:

Doesn't everything does that already No, it doesn't. What you meant is 'searching for dupes', what I've wanted is to filter out duplicates in the search results. dupe: search for duplicated files\folders names. You just add the name and the size: the file size to limit the duplicates displayed by na...

duplicate filtering

is it possible to add an option to filter duplicates (based on the filesize or/and filename)?

pretty sure it would be really handy for many users

Everything behavior

After a crash or unclean shutdown (i.e. killed through process explorer) Everything starts to rescan whole database (including remote network folders which can take a long time..).

So the question is: is it a normal behavior?

P.S. I'm on Everything v1.3.3.656 (x64).

Re: Everything crash

Any update? I can't seem to spot an error in Everything with debug mode, it writes nothing to the output file for some reason .. I'm now on stable version, it works stable as rock. But would love to use new version because of the shared folders indexing functionality. I think the crash is related to...

Re: Everything crash

Thanks for the Everything dump. Unfortunately, the dump does not provide any useful debug information (due to stack and register corruption). I am aware of the issue with logging the debug output to a file. What do you currently have set for the Choose when to check for solutions to problems report...

This will only work from a command prompt.
This will fail as you described if you try to run this from a shortcut.
I ran from command line and from the shortcut -- same result.

Re: Everything crash

Thanks for the bug report. I am aware of the issue. I have found that deleting short named folders will corrupt the database. This will cause Everything to crash after updating the folder indexes. I will post a fix soon. To enable debug logging: Debugging Help A crash dump might be more helpful in ...

Re: Using Everything for Mapped Network drives (shared folde

sorry, but I do not understand what's so difficult in setting this up? 1. map networked drive to any available drive, i.e. to X: 2. in Everything select Folders and add that drive to index and update interval 3. done alternatively you can 1. use fullpath to the share, i.e. \\server\supershare in the...
