The sorting worked for me in previous versions of Everything so I'm not sure what is going on there.. I modified dll.test.c to search for L"*" and to hang around for a while after the search. When the sample EXE started, its working set was about 3MB. After the search, its working set was about 32MB. Is there a way to free that memory?

Maybe implement an app that runs elevated and relays the messages from your unelevated app to Everything? Sigh! My approach (Everything elevated from logon-triggered scheduled task) is quite sufficient for queries (that's what's most important). I was hoping to add extra functionality. But I can live without that since I have the tray icon.
