Re: Limiting search to within a folder
@gdv: Glad you liked it. I like to create my own context menus rather than using the ones programs install. It gives me the option to use any icon I want, and it lets me add icons to context menu entries that normally don't have an icon. I think icons are are much easier and faster when it comes to...

I've attached a 7z compressed archive with the already created .reg files you'll need to Register and Unregister Everything as the Default Search Application if you are not comfortable creating the file(s) yourself. Edit: I've re-uploaded (again) ( + new MD5 checksum: 8a10240aef88c4a3f311f6589b245b...

Re: Limiting search to within a folder
If you want to search just a specific folder and its sub-folders, you can use my customized registry entry, which will let you do the following: ❶ Create a context menu that has customized text of your choice. ❷ You can choose an icon that will be shown for the context menu entry. I use Everything ...

Re: Problem with Shortcut - DialogBox doesn't appear
(It appears that the "image" sites does not allow "hotlinking", & further it also probably has a referrer check. Makes sense to me (although I don't know how to verify). I'm having a similar problem with the image in another Stamimail post here from a different external imag...

Re: [Solved] Scandinavian character issue in v1.4.0.713b (x6
I've always used the portable version and update by overwriting the old files. As far as I know, the ini file doesn't get overwritten when decompressing the zip file to a custom directory, so there must have been something else that didn't work as expected. Yes, I always use the portable version as...

Re: Problem with Shortcut - DialogBox doesn't appear
Getting back to Stamimail's original post, I can confirm the same behavior with Everything v1.4.0.713b (x86) on Win7. Specifically, the attached dialog pops up after double-click on a broken shortcut from within Windows Explorer, but nothing at all seems to happen if double-click same broken shortcu...

Here's the corrected link: http://www.vspbreda.nl/nl/wp-content/uploads/2014/07/071514_0753_Office20131.png I'm guessing you pulled that from the page HTML source, which I didn't think to do when I posted early this morning just before I hit the sack (although I did try refreshing the page a couple...

Re: [Solved] Scandinavian character issue in v1.4.0.713b (x6
Good! Glad to know it worked! :) I don't know if it's relevant to your encountering the problem in v1.4.0.713b, but AFAICT the diacritical matching option first became available in v1.3.4.686 (Aug 6, 2014), and I don't recall how diacritics were handled before that. If diacritical matching had been ...

I haven't worked with this, but have you tried menu Search > Match Diacritics (or Ctrl+M)?
In your screen-shot, it appears that Match Diacritics is currently deselected (i.e., it doesn't appear on the Status Bar in lower right corner).

Re: Search History - Is there a new planning?
There have been other gems too, like "hide_on_close=1", which will retain your last search results in the Everything window instead of clearing it every time. Oh, NICE! I didn't know (or had forgotten?) about the current window searches being Back/Forward navigable (via Alt+LeftArrow/Alt+...

Re: 708b
I think what you want is navigation history (eg: a back and forward button, and a dropdown button to show all recent searches). I hope to add navigation history in Everything 1.5 (back and forward toolbar buttons with dropdown (or right click) navigation history). For now, Use Alt + Left arrow and ...

Re: Things to do
It's ordered by Search Count. Search Everything for 'Search History.csv" ;-). Ah, cheers. For me that's much less useful than chronological order like the Opera example above. Would be nice to have an option in the settings (or config ini) to alter this. 1) Implement the historical / chronolog...

I found it was already mentioned, that the Search Histoty is not as expcted: http://www.voidtools.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=26&start=100#p11643 I agree with Specular, that this list should be in chronological order. Many times I'm looking for the search that I searched just recently. La...

While typing in Search Edit, we want what you meant (Search Suggestions), "will show the most frequent searches first". While clicking on the triangle (dropdown button), we want what I meant (Search History), "The recent search should be at top". @Stamimail: I, too, have wanted ...

Re: Do I need to keep Windows Search running?
Quick question: Does ESE rely in any way on the native "Windows Search" service? Would I be able to shut it down without affecting ESE? ESE indexes file and folder names from the NTFS Master File Table (which is why it is so fast), and does not rely on Windows Search in any way. But ESE d...

Re: UAC Pass - Give Admin Rights to an App, Once
I would recommend using the new beta to avoid UAC issues. Thanks! Repairing a relative's WinXP machine right now and haven't yet had a chance to try the new beta or UAC Pass on my Win7 machine, but am interested in the UAC Pass for several other utilities as well. Delighted to see you back and acti...

Looks like the author has updated the download links on his UAC Pass homepage now, as they are working at this time.
