Re: There is something wrong with the modifiers

Please, by all means, make it optionable in the settings. It's impossible to use a file searcher like that, it's wrong. "And" should have lower priority than OR. In programming it is usually maybe higher, but here even the nature of the AND operator, being a space, hints that it is for div...

Re: Things to do

This is already a something, but still for each column staying on how it was left, would better do. When we press on it back (let's say on extension, after date) it usually means we want to see back the extension-sorted, but not to alter the extension up-down.

Re: Troubles stealing focus.

WoѠ, ! it took me a lot of ages to bring up to actually install this program Autohockey, and start to use it, but now i wish to express the gratitude to pointing this program out!!!! I couldn't find such a thing somehow.... This is not only keys assignment, this is overall Windows routine scripter w...

Several sortings at once

Suggestion about sorting files by many parameters, 1 after another. For example if they were sorted by path, inside these, needed to sort by date, but retain the overall list order - by paths. This could get introduced by holding Ctrl or Shift when pressing the column. And if pressed without Ctrl, m...

Yeah, here's another suggestion. Why not sort in background and just leave the user type anything? No need to make it like a blockaded operation. Just to type anything, and even if finding files and sorting them in the list isn't possible parallelly; the user thinks over and edits the quiery - later...

Re: Things to do

Thumb up for "keep the sort order, for small changes". Not even small. "always". It so happens that at every change in FS, i have to resort the whole result (and even, heheh, 2 times, because the arrow gets reset).

Detached and reattached disk gets rescanned (for minutes)

If a disk (SATA disk through a USB converter) just get replugged, Everything 1.3.2 (645) seems to rescan it in full. Well, maybe a ❛signature❜ could be stored, like a serial number of the drive, and presume first, when a device gets appeared, that it's not a new disk and hadn't changed.

Why no date and data to look for....?

No need to answer if this had been discussed, just can't seem to find.... Why Everything-searcher only sticks to filenames? After all the filenames have been filtered, there might be a query to dates or even insides of these files. The massive search still is done by "indexing", but on abo...

Finding files through letter-by-letter logic

Ehm.... Also, i suggest opening some imperative searching system to the users. That is, compare atomic letters of all the searchedthrough files, by logical operators. (Isn't this done anyway on a lower level?) A search (sure optional) would look like CHR(1..10) >= "0" AND CHR(1..10) <= &qu...

Display some visual controls instead of regex language

(It's a whole script language, regex. And when there's shifting between regex and subregex, and rules reverse, it's quite hard.) If anyway sophistication is unavoidable, why not make it through controls on a panel alongside the list somehow?

Re: Folder Indexing Help

Was wondering – if there's no journal in FAT32, aren't there some system messages, like there are mouse's, windows' and all other, that the file system's driver sends up, so all file changes could be caught? At least in realtime with the background service.

Multiline rows

Long filename, combined with long filepaths and others, sure can't fit into 1 line of text. Maybe start making file-entry to be 2 lines of text? Column titles don't have to go 2 line for it - they just primarily don't have to match their data columns by width. They can remain in 1 line, and width ad...

Everything not keeping the column order

Why this program keeps repositting its columns? It always brings the ❛path❜ forth to №4 no matter how far i drive it rightwards. And ❛date modified❜, ❛size❜, accordingly, it puts right, behind paths. I use XP and possibly alternative file managers like Q-dir. Vaguely i can think, before Q-dir, maybe...

Re: How do I reduce what ET is scanning

I forgot it right after exploring the options. It is already sitting there! :o But you know, there is an alternative question in it. How about switching these unmonitoring models by 'user-defined' buttons, on the very face of the main window? Because in most cases we really don't need to monitor man...

Re: Troubles stealing focus.

But why so??? It's obviously less convenient to press CTRL+F3 than just F3. Isn't it good to just let all programs use their internal shortcut, and call Everithing when no one takes it right now, like the Windows' searcher seemingly does? Or at least such possibility (i guess you want to provide an ...

Oh yes, important!

Please let know how you authors circumvent it. It's impossible you cope with it. Whenever i set a just F3 or F4 key in Evrything's menu as shortcut, it starts bringing up Evrything from evrywhere! from Firefox, Akelpad and wherever there are such quick searchs. It's impossible. Windows' searcher doe...

addition to questioN

Yeah, i add some phrase to this. Just may we exclude system places like "C:\WINDOWS" while we're not interested in (quick) indexing there? We are usually not looking there! And most changes are there. And anyway, why does it take Evrything about 10 seconds to start? Just could there be so ...
