Re: EFU file: "Open with" ES gets confused

The problem was immediately solved when I re-registered within Everything as suggested: In Everything, from the Tools menu, click Options. Click the General tab on the left. Uncheck EFU file association. Click Apply. Check EFU file association. Click OK. -------------------- As for Admin which I'll ...

EFU file: "Open with" ES gets confused

Windows 10 x64, ES Version 1.5.0.1352a (x64). In Windows I have set Everything Search as the default app for .EFU files. In the past eg. six months ago, I could double-click an EFU file and Everything would open it and show the contents. The search box in ES was empty. But now when I double-click an...

Re: Things to do

I apologize for the previous post. Two suggestions / requests: 1) Implement the historical / chronological history described by specular. At least as an option; it's far more intuitive and customary. 2) I'd like to be able to set a font color for zero-length files. Actually I'd like to gray them out...

Re: Search history is jumbled

.
@therube - thanks for trying to explain this (though I don't know what "Search Count" is). But I'd really like at least the option of a plain historical order i.e. MRU. That's what my brain is conditioned to look for.

Search history is jumbled

. I really would like "search history" (the dropdown bar on the main window) to be in time sequence. By this I just mean the standard behavior for such things: most recent search at the top, then older ones going down. As it is, Everything seems to save only some of the searches, and the m...

Re: Everything window is 'Always On Top'

Have you tried a CTRL+T (two keys, the CTRL key and the T key) ? On version 1.3.2.649b, this is also available under the "View", "On Top" menu and you can then choose the option(s) from there. Mousey Yeah, well... go ahead and make it look easy... ;-} I don't know how I could ov...

Everything window is 'Always On Top'

I'm using Version 1.3.3.658b (x86) under Windows 7 Ultimate, with AMD graphics. In the past few days, Everything has begun keeping its window "always on top". I haven't done anything on my PC (graphics driver changes) that might account for this. However, I did install the "Important&...

Re: Everything 1.3.1.636b does not "refresh"

Thank you, nagan. I'm pretty sure that some if not all the "problem" files were found via being in a specified folder. So that would explain it. If I find out more I'll post again.

Re: Everything 1.3.1.636b does not "refresh"

FYI, this still happens with v1.3.3.658b. The difference from my 4 April report is that most of the ~170 deleted files did disappear from the Everything window and showed up in the Recycle bin, as they should. However, about a dozen files were deleted but stayed on in the window. I'm sure that if I ...

Re: Make Everything use Windows 'default' (not orig) explore

Yes, the solution is to add entries to the Tools | Options | Context Menu items. For example, for "Explore Path" enter: $exec("C:\Program Files\XYplorer\XYplorer.exe" %1) assuming you have XYplorer installed in C:\Program Files\XYplorer Works great - thanks. I just had no idea th...

Re: Open Path ignores default file mgr setting

Jerry points out that my post http://forum.voidtools.com/viewtopic.ph ... 7395#p7395 is an exact duplicate of his request. What a coincidence - and I'm sorry I didn't find this myself. Anyway, nagan kindly explained a fix, and I have added a reply there showing actual usage.

Make Everything use Windows 'default' (not orig) explorer

I recently moved to XYplorer as a replacement for Windows Explorer (on my Win 7 32-bit PC). XYplorer has the ability to set itself as the "default Windows explorer", which I've done. So it pops up as expected when I open folders on the desktop etc. However, when I "Open path" on ...

Just have to say "Thanks" again

I use Eveything for hours at a stretch, sometimes, and rarely less than an hour a day. I love it and, now, don't know what I'd do without it. Thanks SO MUCH for continuing to develop and support it. This is a peerless tool.

I did donate, but... more needs to be said.

Re: Everything 1.3.1.636b crashes when renaming folder

I just found the latest update to the beta. Thanks so much for maintaining and improving this terrific tool. If I lost it, I'd have to simply give up on a major (and very important to me) cataloging project.

Re: Everything 1.3.1.636b does not "refresh"

I should have mentioned that I'm using the portable 1.3.1.636b package (portable is great to have). I thought that might bear on the refresh issue. But I'm now trying the old v1.2.1.375 version on the same hardware, and it refreshes much better. And this wasn't formally installed; I just copied its ...

Everything 1.3.1.636b does not "refresh"

I'm running Everything 1.3.1.636b under Win XP Pro 32-bit, indexing an external USB NTFS 4TB drive. I'm doing a regex search for .jpg files. That all works fine, finding about 10K such files (BIG THANKS for this great utility). However, after I delete some of these files under Windows Explorer, Ever...

Re: Eventual instability under Win XP

Thanks for your attention. The problem is not related to the shell interface since I never use that. In my post dated today (3 Mar 2013) about Everything crashing on folder rename, I attached a screenshot of the file handles etc on startup. I had (but lost) a similar picture after several hours of u...

Everything 1.3.1.636b crashes when renaming folder

I'm running this on Windows XP, 3-bit; 4GB RAM. I have 9TB online (8TB are external USB3 drives); about 700K entries. When I try to rename a folder in the file list, Everything crashes. This has been repeatable all morning, and a couple times yesterday as I recall. Editing individual filenames doesn...

Eventual instability under Win XP

I'm running Everything 1.3.0.632b; however, the problem has existed for a year or more. I was just hoping it might incidentally have been fixed with the new versions. This is on a WinXP 32-bit system with Intel CPU and 4GB RAM; all service packs. The symptom is that after a few hours of having Every...

Want option to ignore external drives

Thanks for a very unique and helpful utility. On my first few uses I find that I'd like to be able to ignore external drives, most of the time. When I do want to search them I'd like it to be easy to enable them separately. I've searched the forum on "external drive" and don't find a threa...
