I love this tool. I need this tool.
I wished it was an open-source to protect it.
Huge thanks to David for all his work. :)

Re: Everything for linux ?

Hi
I dont think its directly possible as Everything uses NTFS meta info to get the insane speeds.
But of course the rest of its functionalities could be ported. (maybe not the insane fast live update)

Re: From where can I obtain the source of Everything?

If you are into searching like Everything does, check out
http://sourceforge.net/projects/ntfs-search/

Same idea but Everything is a much, much better application ;)

Re: Windows 8?

I have not had any issues with Everything on win 8 32bit.

In fact - it made win 8 a bit better as I use it as program launcher now they made
the start menu a huge pile of useless app junk.

Re: Run External program

Can you explain more ?
If I search for *.txt, select all (ctrl+a) and right click and select open, all files shown is open in my editor?

Also, there is a cmdline for ES and a SDK, so what ever you want to do with the results should be possible. :D

Re: Is Everything dead?

ES is the only tool I simply cannot live without. Its like windows search should have been. If it could show thumsnails of images, it frankly would be perfect. No more I could dream off. Since it never crashed on me or shown sign of bugs. I must confess Im very impressed with the quality of the code...

Re: linux, ubuntu, ext3

I use linux alot too, so having "everything" instead of locate would be utterly great, BUT i think this tool uses the volume bitmap for finding files and AFAIK linux does not use such thing and therefore we cannot get the same speed. Also, it uses the folder watch API and never seen such A...
