Keyboard shortcut to "Everything-Search this current folder"
I love the Everything context menu option that can be accessed in explorer/file folders to limit the scope of the search to that folder. Would it be possible to implement an ability to attach a user-definable Everything keyboard shortcut to this ability natively?

Ability to include a sorting option with a user-created Filter
I have a custom filter which shows me the most recently modified/created files happening right now on my machine, but with a number of folders excluded, like browser cache folders (which overwhelm this ability with their fast/frequent writes). This is useful for finding wherever some program I'm usi...

Possible to trigger re-indexing of a specific folder?
Is it possible to trigger a re-indexing of a particular subfolder (of a folder that's already scheduled to be indexed)? Everything crashed last night before it reindexed a network share, and I'm wondering if it's possible to easily reindex a particular subfolder on that share. I know I could add tha...

Re: Apps start as ADMIN don't get focus and foreground
Fred (or anyone), could you explain what you mean by using Everything as your default app launcher for app links in %AppData%? Does this mean just opening a new instance of Everything and searching for an "App*.lnk"? I'm curious how this works, particularly if it's more than merely search...

Re: Apps start as ADMIN don't get focus and foreground
Hi, I love this tool, very fast and efficient. I made it my default launcher for the apps links in %APPDATA%\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs too. It works great except for the app that are set to start as ADMIN: then UAC popup only flash and blink in Windows taskbar instead of being brought t...

Re: Everything CPU is super high, debugging output:
Aha! I opened ProcessMonitor to see what was happening behind the scenes. Sure enough, I found SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) massively interacting with the disk, writing/deleting lots of session data, and frequently. This is what was choking Everything! You were right, void. I was just confuse...

Re: Everything CPU is super high, debugging output:
Thanks for the offset info. What version of Everything are these from? x86 or x64? Any idea what is program might be deleting all those folders? It's 847b x64. How can you see that folders are being deleted? I see it saying "0" subfolders/files being removed. Also, what are these things? ...

Re: Everything CPU is super high, debugging output:
Thanks void/everyone. Apologies on the link + missing info. I've been having this problem on 809b, but recently moved to 851b, hoping it'd fix the issue, however, the issue still persists. What's actually happening with all of these debug entries? Void, what do these thread stack-walks show is happe...

Re: Can we get Everything's debugging symbols?
Good idea, I'll check file system activity the next time it happens and report back, along with the function offsets.
For reference, I'm using v.851b. But this was also happening with 809b (I was hoping the nightly would fix it).

Closing debug window exits Everything
Currently, if there's a debug window open, if you click the "X" at the top right of the window, it closes Everything as a program vs. just the debugging window. I'll remember next time to use the CTRL-~ shortcut again to hide it that way, but it might be helpful to disassociate exiting the...

Everything CPU is super high, debugging output:
Everything is frequently using 60-80% of CPU. When looking at the debugging output, I see hundreds of entries saying "removed 0 subfolders and 0 files from" and then some sort of GUID. Like here: http://lookpic.com/O/i2/548/zwYqnojo.jpeg http://lookpic.com/O/i2/548/zwYqnojo.jpeg I have no ...

Can we get Everything's debugging symbols?
I've been having some issues with Everything lately -- using heavy amounts of CPU, the GUI interface not responding (even though Process Monitor shows that it's still indexing alright on the backend), etc. It seems that looking at the debugging output doesn't give enough information in some cases. W...

Have Everything save the database when shutting down computer
Currently, I have to remember to manually exit Everything before doing a system reboot so that it writes the updated Everything.db down to disk. Would it be possible to have Everything do this automatically when it detects the system shutting down or rebooting?

Re: Everything spawns more and more Explorer.exe's

Please try changing the open path command to open explorer with no parameters: In Everything , from the Tools menu, cl...

Re: Running as service vs. administrator
Thanks. Which do you personally use -- administrator or service? Aside from performance differences, which you say there are none, and besides UAC warnings, are there any other particulars of services that might be a pro or con? For example, I know services typically start up before Windows login --...

Re: Everything spawns more and more Explorer.exe's
I've always had "Launch folder windows in a separate process" disabled. Doing this in other programs doesn't have the problem. For example, in uTorrent, double-clicking to open folders doesn't spawn any additional Explorers, nor does right-clicking and selecting "Open containing folde...

Everything spawns more and more Explorer.exe's
Every time I explore a path/directory from within Everything, it spawns a new Explorer.exe process. Additionally, these new processes don't disappear when I close the folder that was opened. Is it possible to prevent this? I currently have 5 extra Explorer's open right now that were spawned by Every...

Wildcarded folders not working
I'm trying to wildcard search a folder, but it's not working. For example, if I was looking for PDF files inside a folder named "Dark Knight", but I only remembered the "Knight" part of the folder name, I would try a search for: \*Knight *.pdf When I try this, however, the folder...

Re: Everything crashes pretty often (win7 x64)
Everything crashes at least a few times every week. It's usually when I double click on any file in the search results view. subsequent re-launch of Everything will often result in it freezing, and usually crashing again. This is what debug says when it's crashing (taken from two different occurren...
