Show Folders containing files named xxxx
Hi. Sorry if this is a dumb question. I admit I've only done a cursory search of the help for an answer: I'd like to enter a filename pattern and instead of displaying the normal match set of filenames and folders containing the pattern, display only the folders containing files matching the pattern...

Hmm. My Avast Anti-virus flags this new es.exe (Win32:Evo-gen (Suspected).

Many thanks. Yes build 657 has fixed it.

Re: ES.EXE and Version 1.3.3.653 (x64)
Thanks for the quick reply. Unfortunately, while es no longer fails completely with build 656, it doesn't work correctly either. There are two problems (that I've noticed) 1. It seems to ignore the first two characters in the search pattern i.e. if I ran "es 123456" it returns a match set ...

ES.EXE and Version 1.3.3.653 (x64)
Hi. I was delighted to see a 64 bit version was available. It cured some out of memory issues when scanning drives. I also make use of your es.exe command line program for various things, and unfortunately this no longer works with this new version of Everything. Perhaps there's an issue cropped up ...

Re: [BUG] OUT OF MEMORY Error
I get this as well because I have a huge set of files.
I have two solutions that work for me.
1) Boot into safe mode and let everything build the database there. Very few things are running and less memory is used. This works for me.
or
2) Use the new 64bit version.

Re: Search History
Hi Void. I like the idea of a history feature. But I didn't think the way the 1.2.451(?) alpha did it was very useful. It seemed to list the history by the most popular, then alphabetical within that. It was not configurable either. Most other programs that offer a history list do so in the order of...

Re: So development stalled...
Anyone know of another program that takes a similar approach, that is currently being developed? I only know of one program even remotely similar: Ava Find. But that has not been developed for years either. Also it uses a different approach in that it builds a catalog (and monitors the file systems ...

Well I was so impressed when I found this program I donated a hundred bucks. That was nearly two years ago. That's all for now.

Re: Display thumbnails of images
Firstly, the script was only a guide. Can't say that things will literally work exactly as typed by me (e.g. you might not have a 64 bit system so the I_view program might be in \program files rather than \program files (x86)) Yes match.txt is supposed to contain a list of matching files, but that e...

Re: Display thumbnails of images
Longer answer: To get the batch file to be recognised by name you have to put it in a folder that's in the "path". This also applies to es.exe, as I said in the instructions. If you don't know what I mean by "path" then put them both in c:\windows. That's usually in the "pat...

Run History
The "alpha" 451 version has a run history drop down but this seems to list by number of searches then alpha order (from SearchHistory.xml) It would be nice to be able configure the way SearchHistory.xml gets updated. e.g. I'm more interested in a simple list ordered by the most recent sear...

Re: Display thumbnails of images
Yeah, I'd like a thumbnail display too, but the following seems to work OK until the next release. Get Irfanview. Get the command line version of Everything (es.exe) and put it somewhere in the path. Create the following batch file, say est.bat *** es.exe -s ""%*"" > c:\match.txt...
